What is ESS? Why is it needed?

企業支援計劃 (ESS)

 Enterprise Support Scheme is one of the funding schemes under the Innovation and Technology Fund, which aims to encourage the private sector to invest in research and development activities.

  This project can attract foreign companies to set up R&D business in Hong Kong and promote the establishment of local technology innovation enterprises, thereby creating more diversified employment opportunities related to technology.

Program Features

 

  1. The funding will be awarded on a dollar-for-dollar basis.

  2. Each approved project can receive funding of up to HK$10 million.

  3. The project duration generally does not exceed 24 months.

  4. The recipient company will own the intellectual property rights generated by the project.

  5. There is no provision for withdrawal of government funding.

  6. The distribution of benefits after the commercialization of research and development results is not mandatory.

  1. Established in Hong Kong

  2. Hold a valid business registration certificate

  3. Not a government-funded organization

  4. Not affiliated with any government-funded organisation
